Lions and bunnies and bees...... Oh my!

Even though Ryan and Addison were too little to trick or treat this year, we still made made Halloween fun.  Halloween is Aunt Holly's favorite holiday so the other Nicolls crew came over and we carved and glittered pumpkins the day before and then partied it up on Halloween (complete with themed food and drinks - oh, and cute costumes, of course!)

Holly and I glittering our pumpkins.

In case I haven't mentioned it before, my sister-in-law (and best friend/partner in crime) is a crafting, cooking, domestic goddess.  I'm trying to make as much of it rub off on me as possible (fingers crossed) since I love all that stuff too but don't seem to have the natural gift for it.

Cute cousin Aiden admiring his Momma's glow-in-the-dark white glittery pumpkin.

Glittering my pumpkin with Addison in the baby carrier.  Did I mention that Addison does NOT like to be put down most of the time?  Well, she doesn't.  So, in order to get even the most mundane things done, I usually have to wear her if no family happens to be visiting.  It's okay though - I love it when she snuggles in, gets comfy, and just goes to sleep in there.  I can even sit and play with Ryan while she takes a little nap.  Thank goodness for inventions like the Sleepy Wrap!

Holly and I carving the pumpkins.  We decided not to complicate things with stencils this year and just free handed them.  I called them "throw back pumpkins".  I think they turned out pretty good.

As a kick-off to our Halloween festivities, we just had to take advantage of Ryan and Addison being so small right now and posed them for pictures INSIDE of a pumpkin (Aunt Holly's genius idea :)  These pictures turned out SO cute!

Next, it was COSTUME TIME!  We only tortured the kids by making them wear their costumes for short periods of time (for pictures and then for a walk around the block later).  They were so cute in them though.

First Family Halloween

For dinner, we had spider enchiladas with maggot rice and cobweb guacamole.

"Bloodtinis" (super yummy pomegranate martinis)

And for dessert, some spider web cheesecake....

After we ate and the trick or treaters stopped coming, Holly and I took the kids for a walk around the neighborhood to check out the Halloween decorations.

It was a GREAT night and we can't wait to do it again next year!

Ryan and Addison's first trip to the pumpkin patch

On October 25th, Ryan, Addison and I went to the local pumpkin patch with Aunt Holly and Cousin Aiden.  The babies didn't seem too interested in picking out pumpkins this year (duh) but we took the opportunity to take some cute pictures of the cousins together.

I can't wait to pick out pumpkins next year when Ryan and Addison can appreciate all that the pumpkin patch truly has to offer.

3 Months - These babies are growin!

Ryan and Addison turned 3 months old on October 25th.  We snapped these photos before heading out the pumpkin patch (more pictures of that to come in the next post).  Both babies were a little cranky this day so these were the best pictures we got :)

This little lady likes to stick her hand out :)

Very serious, as usual.

Ryan says "There that lady is, making us pose for pictures on this couch - same thing every month."

"Maybe we can escape when she isn't looking..."

Ryan: "If we get stuck here, I'm going to chew on your shoulder - just so you know....."
Addison: "Why is this guy always trying to chew on my shoulder?"

Baby Smiles

At around 2.5 months, Ryan and Addison started smiling!  As I'm sure most of the parents out there will agree, newborns are cute and all, but babies really start to get fun when they start reacting to you and, most of all, smiling back at you :)  It never gets old really.

Addison is a little more serious and makes you work for a smile sometimes but other times just coos and smiles while staring you right in the eye.

Ryan smiles a lot - when you talk to him, when he pees, when he farts - you get the idea.  He definitely is our Mr. Smiley and we love it!

We're back!

I know, I know.  I've been a terrible blogger lately.  But, when you have two small babies, one of which needs to be held A LOT (Princess Addison), you don't really have much time to get on the computer for very long.  I'm going to try to catch up and then add some posts regularly but don't hold it against me if I fall behind again.  These next few posts will be playing catch up....
