Blogging with twins is hard......

So, I promised I would start blogging more when I got my laptop.  That was more than two months ago.  Turns out, the computer wasn't the problem :)  I just don't have time.  I know, this shouldn't surprise me by now but I guess I'm still coming to grips with the fact that I can't do everything.  Ryan and Addy don't nap that well on the weekends, and Addy has a hard time going down at night unless I'm in bed with her.  So, there is very little time when the kids are sleeping and I'm on my own.   By the time the shock of having a spare couple of minutes wears off, I usually only have enough time to do some dishes and get myself a shower and a short workout.

Anyway, enough with the excuses, I found time to blog today so let's see some pictures, huh?!?

Since most of you also follow my facebook, you've already seen the pictures from Ryan and Addy's birthday.  Here are some cute candid shots taken the last two months or so, some in the bathtub which I definitely haven't posted in a while.

Memorial Day

No, pigs aren't going to fly but, yes, I'm updating the blog.  I finally got my new laptop so hopefully this will become more of a regular occurence.  I'm mostly updating to share some great pictures that my best friend Holly took of the Ryan and Addison on Memorial Day. We spent the day hanging in the backyard and grilled up some burgers and hot dogs.  It could have been a little warmer but all in all we had a great time.

Happy First Mother's Day Lisa! (hijacked by Aunt Holly)

When I first met Lisa, babies were the last thing on either of our minds. I can say that with great confidence because we met when we were 15 at a high school dance our freshmen year. We really didn't get the opportunity to hang out together much after that, Lisa was very smart and really good at school, I on the other hand was not - we had different friends. Then, as chance would have it, we were reintroduced a few years later and ended up marrying brothers. I consider myself very lucky to have "met" Lisa twice in my life.

I consider Lisa to be my best friend. I even followed her when she bought her first house so we could live down the street from each other ;) We have so many things in common and she has been there for me through the tough times in my life. She is one of the easiest people to talk to and she gives great advice. She listened to me for years as I struggled to have a baby, she brought me flowers and wine when my efforts did not work and she was ready with celebratory champagne bubble bath when I finally got pregnant.  She hunted down every type of food I wanted when I was stuck on bed-rest with my son and visited me more often than anyone. She really showed me what being a great friend meant.

When she struggled to have her own babies, it broke my heart. If there was ever a person that I knew deep down in my heart would be a fantastic mother, it was Lisa. The heart that she has is incredible. She will do anything for her friends and family and she is simply put, one of the best people I have ever met. It seemed so unfair that she would not be able to be a mother. But, this is Lisa we are talking about. She is also one of the strongest willed, most determined people I have ever met. She pushed through her struggles like no one I had ever seen. I know it must have been tough for her, but she had a confidence in herself, and confidence that she would have a baby no matter what was thrown at her.

And, being the over-achiever we all know that she is, not only did she have one baby, but she had two! At the same time!

And now it is time to celebrate her first Mother’s day.

I have watched her become the best mother over the past 9 1/2 months. Those lucky little babies are her priority above everything else. She has done what’s best for them, even when it was so hard on her. I am so impressed that she has breastfed both those babies so long even though it was not the easiest thing at first. I have never seen her get flustered when she has two hungry babies crying at the same time, I have never seen her roll her eyes over yet another diaper change, I have never seen her upset that she couldn't socialize at events because she has to put two babies to sleep. Instead, I can see her happiness in taking care of them and that she treasures all the moments she has with her babies. I think she was not only meant to be a mommy but, she was meant to be the mommy to twins.

Happy first Mother’s Day Lisa! You are an amazing mom, an amazing friend and an amazing person. You deserve all the happiness that Addison and Ryan have brought you!

Lisa's first day as a mother...
And a week before her first Mother's day.
Multi-tasking...
Putting one to sleep and then playing with the other...

This is what being a mother looks like...
OK, enough with all the mushy first mothers day stuff, how bout some shots of the kiddos?!?! Since they are just so adorable...and let's face it, this blog hasn't been updated for a little while ;)

First Foods

Right before they hit six months old, Aunt Holly and I cooked up some baby food for Ryan and Addison. We made them sweet potatoes and butternut squash.  Their first meal was a little bit of pureed sweet potatoes, which they weren't too sure about.

Since then, they have really taken their food.  They love eating sweet potatoes, squash, chicken, avocado, and especially applesauce and pureed pears!

Five Months Old and Christmas Fun

The holidays this year were so much fun!  I was still on maternity leave and got to spend lots of great quality time with my babes.  I can't even imagine how much fun this coming holiday season will be.

Before Christmas got here, my sister-in-law/best friend/family photographer Holly came over and took some awesome pictures of Ryan and Addison.

This picture of Ryan was taken right before Christmas time.  I included it just because I really like it.  And, it represents how he always looks when he rolls over onto his belly - stuck.  Unlike Addison, who started rolling down the hallways and all around the room right around Christmas, Ryan still just rolls onto his belly and tries to "swim."  I'm not sure when he will get the hang of rolling the other way since he is still working on it.  I think that soon Addison will be crawling all around him and he will be pissed :)

Jeff and Sara were going to Ukiah for Christmas so they came by a day or two before to open gifts.

Here is Jeff helping Ryan open his gift - some cute new jammies!

And some new jammies for Addison!

On Christmas Eve, we got Ryan and Addison all dressed up to go to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Vacaville.

Here is a picture of them under the Christmas Tree

A family photo

As the night wore on, we changed Ryan and Addison into their Christmas jammies and they snuggled up with everyone who wanted to hold them, but mostly Nana and Pappy who kept stealing them back, as usual :)

The stockings hung on the mantle.

On Christmas morning, we got up and helped Ryan and Addison open their stockings.  They liked their new toys!

We ate lots of yummy king crab legs for dinner - our Christmas tradition!

Addison wearing the cute headband that her Aunt Holly made her.  Sooooo cute!

Some five month photos.....

Thank you everyone for all of the wonnderful gifts for Ryan and Addison.  They got so much cool stuff and have loved playing with it all!
